6. Invisible Cracks - Part Two

She wiped her palms on her thighs before nervously standing to go get the door. Checking herself for almost the tenth time in the mirror before opening.

"Hey." She smiled sweetly as she stepped outside.

"Hi." He returned the same shy smile. Awkward much. "You, uh, you look really good." He cringed to the max, mentally kicking himself. Of all the things he could have said, he said that?

"Oh, thank you." The blushing made her feel like her face was on fire. Thankfully she could turn away for a few seconds as she shut the door.

"So my sister Nina's comin' along you don't mind right?" He led her over to his car.

"No, of course not. Thanks for inviting me."

"Hey, don't mention it. I wanted you to come." She smirked a little. The only word in her mind right now was pauz. He opened the passenger door and let her hop in before dashing to driver's side and doing the same himself.

"Hey, I'm Nina." She leant over from the backseat and shook Nicki's hand as she introduced herself too. Kind of embarrassed that Safaree must have pushed his sister into the back to let her sit up front with him.

"Right, let's go."

It wasn't a long ride to the mall and before long they were piling out of the car. Nina had her face stuck in her phone and was texting like she was possessed as they entered the complex. Nicki couldn't see all too well, her glasses were at home since she decided to wear contacts for the day. She wished she'd put on her darn devil goggles now. Her eyes were teary but as soon as they were inside they stopped a little.

"Nina, would you freaking wait up?" She stopped and turned on the spot.

"My bad, where do y'all wanna go?"

"Well Ion give a shit to be honest, I just wanted to get outta the damn house. Where do you wanna go Nicki?" They both looked at her as she froze, Nina noticed and intercepted. Thank goodness for her.

"I need to go dress shoppin' I got a party too, you need somethin' to wear tonight?"

"Yeah, I got nothin'."

"Kay, well that's sorted. We're goin' dress shoppin' boy, so go entertain ya lame ass for a couple hours." She linked her arm with Nicki's and pulled her away swiftly as Safaree stood there at a loss for words.

"Girls. Shit." He shook his head smiling as he watched Nicki's perfect ass as she walked off. She knew he was staring and decided to emphasise her assets with a bouncier walk.

***

"Nicki, you have to come out! Thas the whole point of goin' shoppin' with your friends, you try on a buncha dresses and then y'all help each other out. So get yo' ass out here. Now." She smiled at how shy she was from the other side of the curtain.

"Is there anyone else out there?"

"No Nicki, hurry 'cause soon there will be!" She huffed, not wanting to leave the security of the cubicle.

"Kay, I'm openin' the curtain now." Nina saw the fabric rustling ever so slightly and shook her head before taking matters into her own hands. Without warning the curtain was pulled open revealing a completely different Nicki. Nina's face said it all as she looked her up and down.

"Damn! If I was a dude...." She trailed off and exhaled. "You look fine as fuck. Forreal. That's the one, trust me."

"But I only tried on-"

"Five, I know but you got curves. Anythin' looks freaking sexy on you. 'Specially with that waist, it's practically non-existant!" She moved over to Nicki who was stood with her back to Nina, looking at herself unsurely in the mirror. "Girl, put your face straight! Can't you see how good you look?!" She tweaked a couple of crinkles in the dress and stood back to admire her some more.

"You sure? Ion wanna waste my money." She looked down at herself and for the first time she felt good. Like she measured up to all the other girls, who seemed to look down at her.

"I'm positive! Wait, Safaree takin' you tonight?" Nicki nodded whilst looking at her in the mirror. "Well bring all your stuff for tonight and I'll sort your hair and makeup, sound good?" Nicki breathed out in relief. She didn't even own any damn makeup.

"Seriously?" She turned to look at her properly. "You're a god send! Thank you!"

"Hey no problem! Now let's go pay for this and go find that idiot."

It didn't take them long to find him, he kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. Just stood there trying to look like he was busy, when really everybody and their granny knew he wasn't.

"Oh, you done?" He prayed they were, he'd been waiting for what seemed like years. He'd wanted to spend time with Nicki but he was understanding of the fact the she needed an outfit.

"Yes we're done. Now if you don't mind I gotta go meet D.J., nice to meet you Nicki and I'll see you later?" She smiled as she walked away backwards waiting for Nicki's reply.

"Yeah see you later, and thanks for helpin' me out!"

"It's all good, bye." She turned her body and walked off, leaving Nicki and Safaree in silence.

"So I figure you got yourself somethin'?" He motioned to the bag in her hand as they walked slowly.

"Yeah your sister helped me pick it out." She looked up at him, only to realise he was looking at her too. Usually she avoided eye contact but with him it was comfortable, he wasn't judging her. She liked that.

"Ohh she ain't get all pushy with you did she?" Thinking about it now, yes. Yes she did. But that's what she needed, affirmation and help in that department an Nina gave her that.

"No, she really helped, I'm glad she was here." He smiled before trying to have a look in her bag.

"So wutchoo get?"

"Nah, you'll see tonight. Patience."

"Is a virtue." She laughed as they got closer to a food place. "You wanna eat?" Yes, more than he knew if you caught her drift.

"Yeah I'm starving."

The shopping trip was in fact hours long but for Nicki it went too fast. The party was fast approaching and she was more than scared. Try absolutely petrified. On the plus side her little lunch with Safaree was the longest, they spent forever just talking and laughing an awful lot. Now she was sat in her room, waiting. He said he'd text when he was back at hers to take to his place. She kept letting out short, sharp breaths trying to stop herself for getting psyched out. There goes her message tone. Grabbing her bag of stuff she pelted down the stairs, yelling bye to her father she shut the door before he could say it back.

"Woah, you in a rush?"

"Mmm little bit. Nina's doin' my hair an stuff." She laughed as they walked back over to his car, he couldn't stop looking at her. Especially in the dusk light. She looked radiant. "What?" She scraped the hair out of her face as she smiled at him.

"Nothin'. I just think you look perfect as you are. So don't let Nina paint your face too much." She rolled her eyes playfully and slid into the passenger seat as he resumed his seat behind the wheel.

***

"I'll say this one more time. I can't do this properly if you keep swattin' at your damn face every five seconds. Imma put a freaking straight jacket on you. Be still." Nina swiped the makup brush over Nicki's face again as she tried to sit on her hands. How the hell she wore this stuff she had no idea. It felt so itchy. "Mkaaay, I'm done!" She stepped aside, letting Nicki see herself for the first time. She had nothing to say. She looked flawless. The itchy shit was nothing now that she realised how good she looked. "So, you like it?" Nina asked as she fixed a straggly piece of her hair.

"Uhm, I don't like it Nina. I freaking love this!" She stood up quickly to hug her gratefully.

"Woah, you gon' mess up my artistry! You stay and I'll go get your dress." Leaving the room to go retrieve her outfit, Nicki felt no hesitation to pull of her sweats and her loose jumper. Safaree stood shocked in the hallway, wondering whether she knew the door was left open a crack but his thoughts were interrupted.

"SB, the fuck you doin'?" He jumped at the sound of his name.

"Huh, uhm nothin' I'm just-"

"Oh my god! Were you serioulsy just watchin' her change?!" She hissed in a hushed whisper as she slapped him repeatedly. "Get the fuck outta my way freak, and go before she realises you been creepin' on her!" She shook her head and slammed the door fiercely behind her, but Safaree couldn't give a toss. He saw Nicki in her underwear. That image will be forever imprinted in his mind. He snapped out of his little daydream and headed back to his room to ready himself. Just him and his happy thoughts.

"Here, I unzipped it and all that so you can just step into it." Nicki's face was channelling an unimpressed feeling as Nina looked at her confusedly. "What's wrong?"

"Bitch, you really think that's gon' go over my ass?!" Nina looked at her butt and then at the dress in her hand before moving back to her ass again.

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh!" Nicki paused in thought. "I'll have to put over my head but-"

"Your hair. Damn, I didn't think this through." She pulled the dress as wide open as she could without tearing it and tried to put over Nicki's head as carefully as she could. Luckily Nicki was super mini and Nina was about five inches taller. After a long stressful procedure her dress was on. She looked more than perfect, like she couldn't stop staring at herself. That good. "Shit you look amazing Nicki." Nina sat on her bed and collapsed dramatically. "My work here is done ladies and gents, niggas and hoes." Nicki bust out laughing before gasping.

"Nina Ion have any shoes!"

"Size?"

"Reaally small!" Nina sat up with a face like thunder.

"You are so difficult you know that?" Moving over to her closet she pulled out a pair of black pumps. "Try these." They both held their breath as she slipped them on. Perfect fit. "You lucky we're the same freaking size!"

"Thank you, for all of this. Why are you helpin' me so much?" She perched herself carefully on the edge of her bed with her.

"You have no idea how much he likes you, do you? He talks about you and texts you like, all the time! Every other word that leaves his mouth is Nicki! And Ion know, I guess you feel the same way?"

"Yeah, I really do."

"Exactly, he pointed you out once and I could tell by the way you walked you have no confidence and I'd hate for that to hold you back. I mean, just fucking look at you! You're so hot! Ion know why you can't see that." Just as Nicki was about to open up to her there was a knock at the door.

"You ready?" Nicki looked at Nina unsurely, only to be shoved gently off of the bed.

"Go, have fun! Oh, and don't let no bitches tell you anythin' fucked up. You look great." She rolled on to her stomach as Nicki mouthed thank you and opened the door to see Safaree stood waiting, his mouth dropped instantly.

"Wow, you look really amazing." He cringed again. This time it showed on his face as she grabbed his hand.

"Thank you." She was laughing as she said it which made him relax and stop allowing goofy things to escape his lips. "You look pretty good yourself sir." He kept hold of her hand and the both of them headed out to his car, Nicki was feeling the nerves as she sat herself in the passenger seat. This was all so new to her, she felt kind of sick but excited at the same time. There was only one way to find out of this was her scene.

5. Invisible Cracks - Part One

He stood still, contemplating her ultimatum. If he left then that was it, he'd have no way of getting on her good side again. But if he stayed and carried on with the tutoring then surely she'd have to warm to him. Eventually.

"Aubrey?"

"You mean you'll still help me?"

"Yeah, I'm not like a lotta the jerks at school." He knew that was directed at him. Touché. "Right...Well, shall we get on with it then?" She grabbed herself a pencil and moved back over to her bed wondering why the hell he was still just standing there like a wet lemon. Her still movement as she stared caused him to look at her.

"Uh, yeah I guess so." He dropped his bag and proceeded to get out his books, rolling his eyes when he heard her message tone sounding. Probably SB. For the next minute or so he could only hear her fingers tapping the keys as she replied.

"Ok, what do you need help with?"

"Everything we were doin' in class today." He continued with trying to find the right pages as she looked at him bewilderedly.

"That's odd 'cause I saw you actin' up and bein' a total ass in class today. If you'd just listened, you wouldn't be here." He hated how she could say something with so much anger yet still keep her voice calm.

"Yes I know." The snappy answers and his sulky face didn't faze her. She was stuck smiling about Safaree. He'd been texting her non stop since lunch. She felt like she'd known him forever. Like that kind of movie shit she always saw and never believed. The rest of the evening went by quite quickly and annoyingly he'd made her smile a few times. Not that she'd ever show it. His ego was already way too big. But just the random little funny things he would say or do. It reminded her of the old Aubrey. She still hated his guts though.

"Does Aubrey want to stay for dinner Onika?" Her dad asked as he stood in the door way whilst she showed Drake out. Her Mother's orders.

"Yes, thank you. I'd like that." She swung her head around so fast her hair almost came back and face whipped her.

"But, what about that homework you said you had to do?" She bugged her eyes and gave him a look.

"Oh, well if you've got homework then we won't keep you. Maybe next time?" Mama Carol appeared behind Nicki's father.

"Yeah, yeah maybe next time." He smiled as he shared an uncomfortable moment with Nicki's angry face. They all said goodbye, except Onika. She brutally stared him out of the door. How the hell was he about to sit and have dinner with them. He could fuck right off with that.

The silence once again grew louder at their dining table. It was her first night eating with her father sat at the table too. If anyone asked her what her Dad did for work she honestly wouldn't be able to say. It seemed to change on a daily basis so she gave up asking.

"So how's school going Onika?" He stabbed around on his plate trying to get more than enough shoved on to his fork. She hated that, what was wrong with just having one piece of meat on the fork? Nothing, that's what.

"Uh, yeah it's ok." His brow furrowed as he swallowed what looked like a truckload of food. And he wonders why he gets indigestion?

"Just okay? You pullin' good grades?" She was about to answer when her Mother cut in.

"Of course she is. When doesn't she?" Right then at that moment her Father shot her Mom a look she'd never seen before. He looked both shocked that she would interrupt and angry that she even dared to. Even Macaiah noticed and he's five. There was silence for a moment before he stood, slamming his chair back and disappeared back into "His Room". Also known as the lounge room, whenever he was home it was practically off limits. She felt her face contorting as she thought for a second, he had super strange working times. He'd be home for what seemed like however long he wanted and then bam, he'd be gone again without warning.

"Onika dear, could you please take your brother upstairs. He needs bathing before he goes to bed." She was about to start whinging but seeing her Mom's distraught face she decided not too.

"Uhm, sure." She attempted to grab her empty plate but Carol told her to leave it, she obeyed and went straight to Cai's chair. "Come on you, we gon' go get ready for bed." She took him gently under the arms and set him on the floor. He always had a thing about holding her hand wherever they went. It was ok though. She thought it was cute. She curled her lip angrily as she walked past the lounge room. The smoke was pouring out, as he puffed away. Not a care in the world. The whole dynamic of the house changed whenever he was back home. She loved him because he was her father but that didn't mean she had to like him. And right now, she wasn't his biggest fan. Doing as she was asked she bathed Cai, put his jammies on and put him to bed, praying he didn't ask for a story. He did. Nobody else could do it as good as her, he liked all the weird, different voices she did. It was entertaining.

"Thank you Nika." She closed the book and turned to Cai's doorway to see her Mom stood there. She'd so obviously been crying.

"That's fine" She smiled and set his book on the night stand. "Look, Mom is everythin' ok?" She was at the doorway too now.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm going to bed now, I have an early start."

"But Mom tomorrow's Saturday?" The little head tilt she did made Carol smile.

"I know baby, but we're a little short of money right now. Don't worry your little head though." She chuckled softly and kissed Nicki's forehead before making her way to her room. What the hell was that 'sposed to mean? Her Dad just got home. There should be plenty of money. Shaking her head she entered her room only to hear her phone ringing. The one time it actually does ring and she's left it in the most ridiculous place.  A complete "fuck my life" moment when she did find it and saw it was Safaree. She'd missed it. Now what? Does she wait for him to call again? Or call him? She pouted as she tried to think. But her message tone stopped her thoughts. It was him again asking if she was busy Saturday night. Fuck no. She instantly replied, not quite using those words though. When he responded she felt herself deflate a little. Tyrell was having a party and Safaree wanted her to go with him. Their messaging went on for hours and she finally agreed to go after he talked her into it, he and his sister were going to the mall in the morning so he asked her to come along too. Finishing up their lengthy conversation she showered and got herself into bed. The smile never once leaving her face.

***

"Mom?" The sound of her daughter's voice snapped her out of her daydream.

"Yes?"

"I been asked to go out to the mall today, can I go?" That was question number one. Softening her up before she asked about the party.

"Of course you can, you're earning your own money Nika. Just don't don't be too ruthless with it, kay?" Nicki nodded sweetly before grabbing herself some cereal.

"Oh and I also got asked to a party tonight and I was just wonderin' if I could, Y'know? Go to it?" She proceeded to act aloof as she poured the breakfast food into her bowl.

"Who are you going with? I never see you inviting any of your friends around anymore." Nicki stopped as she felt her lip quiver slightly. She had no friends, like, literally none. Zero. Zilch. Well, apart from Safaree.

"Oh just a new friend. I don't have time to have friends over Mom, I wanna focus on my study." Carol smiled at Nicki's determination and drive, she reminded her so much of a younger version of herself. Silently contemplating, she reasoned in her mind, what harm could one little party do? She needed to let her hair down and have fun.

"As long as you promise me you'll behave? Don't be silly and stay with this friend at all times-"

"Mom? I know." She laughed with a mouthful of cereal as Carol just smiled, realising how protective she sounded, Nicki was 16. She could look after herself. She hoped. Her Mother watched her for a while, she was so grown now. "It's almost 9am y'know?" She carried on crunching her food as Mama Carol jumped up in a panic.

"Oh, I lost track of time! Could you please take your brother to Jelani's at 10am? He's stopping at his place tonight." She was rushing around like a blue ass fly grabbing her bag and a piece of fruit before shutting the door behind herself. Nicki didn't even get chance to answer. Of course she would do it though. As the clock ticked she felt herself getting more worked up and anxious, she wanted to buy something to wear to the party but she had nobody to help her. No friends to consult or ask for opinions. She sighed thinking about it. The house was silent as it was now 11am and Cai was already at Jelani's. Safaree said he'd pick her up at 11am and he still wasn't here. She checked her phone andthe time practically every five seconds as she continued to sit and wait but a knock on the door interrupted her temporary obsessive compulsive tendencies. He was here.

*^_^ So Nicki's going to her first party! :)) Always a scary thing tbh and she has no friends :(( Sorry it's a little short, obviously the next chap will be the party so bring on the drama, in more ways than one :// Thanku SO much for the comments on chapter 4! 4. Mutual Feelings

She couldn't stop thinking about him. His face, his voice, his everything. She felt like a teen with a stupid crush but honestly she'd never felt like this before. That and the fact that he seemed to be the only nice person in the whole damn school.

"Onika?!" She jumped at the way her name was yelled. "If you're just going to sit and daydream why don't you make yourself useful and come write up the answer you got for question 7 on page 315." He walked over to her desk and handed her the whiteboard marker. Asshole. He knew she hated doing stuff in front of everyone, so did the whole class by the time she reached the front. She dropped the marker twice because of how sweaty her palms were. "Well done." She handed the pen back and walked with her head down back to her seat, relieved that she hadn't majorly embarrassed herself. As she sat down she clocked him looking at her, smiling that smile. She had never even noticed that he was in her class, possibly because of how oblivious she was, walking around with her head bowed all the time. He nodded at her, causing her to return the gesture shyly. He'd been thinking about her as much as she had about him and it had only been two freaking days since she bumped into him. Something she should actually thank her clumsiness for. As she continued effortlessly scribbling down her answers she felt something hit her arm, only to see that it was another paper ball. She was about to flick it off when she realised that Tyrell and his douchebag friends weren't in this class. Looking over at Safaree she saw him staring at her expectantly as she unravelled the paper ball. Smart. The cocky bastard had written his phone number in there. She smiled eagerly, he could tell because he saw her dimples deepen. She turned to look at him as she raised her brow as if to ask "Really?" He smiled again and shook his head before getting back to work, she followed his lead as she caught the teacher glaring at her again.

As lunch time came she dreaded the long table search as she wandered cautiously through the canteen area. She hated that was never a table free and she'd usually wind up eating alone somewhere outside. Great. No tables and who else but Tyrell and his shit-head group of friends just had to be sat by the door.

"Onika?" She whipped her head around to the direction from which her name came. It was him, no not Safaree as she'd hoped but Drake. The fuck he wanted she had no idea. She ignored him and tried to walk quickly to the door. "Nicki, wait." If she could roll her eyes any more violently then she already could then she would.

"What?" Turning on the spot she moved her head around with attitude.

"I was just, uhm Y'know? Gon' ask how you were? You good?" He felt himself shifting under her gaze as she squinted at him.

"No, I'm not actually but hey, who gives a flyin' fuck 'bout me?" She shook her head and continued to leave but someone else called her name. This time it was him and she blushed instantly. "Oh, Safaree, hi." She smiled coyly as he sided up to Drake.

"Hey, I didn't know you was friends with Drizzy!" He rested his arm over Drake's shoulders as her face dropped. She knew this was too good to be true.

"Wait, you know him Nicki?" He looked between their faces before holding eye contact with Safaree. "And you? You know her?"

"Well, kyna. I was hopin' to get to know her a little better. If that's alright with her?" Her face perked up again. She loved that he was talking about her, but looking directly at her. Completely blocking Drake out of the conversation.

"I think she'd like that." She replied with the same way of talking and smiled again, ignoring Mr. Gobsmacked stood next to him and left without another word. How was a guy like Safaree associating himself with those pricks? It didn't make any kind of sense. At all. She knew that he was relatively new at school but he'd for sure fallen into the wrong crowd.

***

"Damn, where her goggles gone?" Tyrell took a bite out of his apple as he studied Nicki's face from the back of the bus, she was sat a few seats in front facing sideways without her glasses on. "She looks, kinda...Okay without 'em on." Mia snorted as he finished his sentence.

"Tyrell, are you freaking blind?! Maybe she should let you borrow them damn glasses! She looks just as bad as always!" She continued to cackle, but everyone else was quiet before Dan piped in.

"Nah, Mia I reckon he's right. She's pretty fine actually. And that ass is just....!" He exhaled with his mouth in the shape of an 'O' before turning his attention back to his phone.

"Yeah and she ain't wearin' none of that shit on her damn face, I mean a little is ok but damn who wants to make out with a fuckin' clown?!" Jackson cringed at what he said as he turned to look at Mia's makeup caked face. "Well, y'know? Some girls look aight with on though."

"Aubrey what do you think?" He knew that was his cue to say that she looked hot and nobody else compared to her. Lie.

"I agree with them. But nobody compares to you baby." He pecked her lips as she smiled cockily and started filing her nails.

"I know, thanks babe. But she still looks like a damn fool."

"S'up with you? You're quiet." Safaree turned to look at Drake. Honestly he was paying absolutely no attention to what they were talking about. They talked shit all the time anyways, he'd learned to zone all the way out. He was too busy texting Nicki.

"Hmm? Oh my bad were y'all talkin' to me?"

"No, I just wondered what you was doin'?" He leant forward and rested on the back of Safaree's seat.

"Nothin' just textin'." Drake could feel himself getting angry. He had no right to at all, but he was. He'd been watching them for ages. Safaree was hitting the keys on his phone like crazy and would then look her way, waiting for her to look down at her lap and do the same back. He kept on watching and before he knew it they were at their stop, Safaree lived further away and the only people that got off here were himself, Nicki and Jackson.

"Bye babe." She pushed herself on to him and kissed him before he left. He kept his eyes on Nicki as she turned to look at Safaree, waving sweetly before jumping off of the bus. Tyrell was right, although personally he thought she looked good with her glasses on too but without them she looked even more amazing. You could really see her eyes and face more.

"Oh Nicki?" He watched her stiffen up and move to face him. She was already walking down the sidewalk back to her house.

"Yeah?"

"What 'bout tutorin'? I mean, are you gon' come over or-"

"Can't you find someone else? I told you I was done with you, and I meant it. Goodbye Aubrey." She shook her head and walked off. She'd had enough of dealing with all the shit they dished out to her. She was taking a stand.

***

"Onika?!" Her Dad's bellows were something she definitely didn't miss about him whilst he was away. "There's someone here to see you." She crinkled her brow and made her way downstairs wondering who the hell could be visiting her. Brilliant, it was him. What part of 'No' does this guy not understand?

"Hey." He sounded shy, she guessed it was because he was in her house and felt uncomfortable. Good.  He deserves to feel that way.

"What do you want Aubrey?" She crossed her arms over her chest, only drawing more attention to the size of her boobs in comparison to her miniature waist. He'd never really noticed her figure before, well until now anyway.

"Onika! That is no way to speak to guests in our home!" Her Mom turned to face Drake. "Hello Aubrey dear" She smiled as he said hello back. "Are you here to do your Math homework?" He looked at Nicki blankly, she remained silent with her arms still folded tightly. Mama Carol gave her a look causing her to roll her eyes and scoff at him.

"Whatever, you gon' come up or what?" She glared at her Mom and marched up the stairs with an anxious Drake following a few steps behind. Mama Carol looked at Macaiah sat on the lounge room floor.

"I hope you don't act so bratty when you're her age." He grinned and continued playing as she disappeared back into the kitchen, getting an extra plate out of Drake. Onika was going to hit the roof.

Back up in her room Nicki resumed her position on her bed, phone in hand as she texted Safaree back. "So, I wanted to talk to you Nic."

"-Ki. My name is Nicki." She looked at his face. "What about?" She still had that shy tone to her voice but he knew she was mad.

"Ok, Nicki. I just wanted to apologise for all the shit that-"

"Please, don't even go there." She set her phone down and moved over to her desk. "What questions do you need help with?" She slid her glasses on and started skimming through her text book.

"Nicki! I'm trying to say sorry here! The least you can do is just hear me out!"

"Oh? So all the stuff you and your asshole friends have done to me and said to me will just be erased by you sayin' "Sorry"?" No. It's too late Drake, you really hurt me, now if you're not here for help with school work then can you please leave?"

...

*^_^ Thurr you go, hope this was kay for you all :// Im only continuing with this one cause I enjoy writing it and I know a couple of ppl have DM'd me bout it too thx to those who commented on chapter 3 ^_^ Sorry for any typos*

3. Giving Up

Despite his best efforts Nicki didn't speak to him throughout the whole three hours she was there, and now she was leaving. Barely even opening her mouth to offer him help, once she explained a little he would get it straight away, he was always pretty bright like that.

"Thanks, y'know? For helping me. If I was you-"

"You wouldn't have? Well I didn't want to. My Mom forced me." She stood up quickly, throwing her stuff into her bag.

"Nicki, please?" He tried to touch her arm but she jumped back and gave him a "What the fuck?" look.

"Do me a favour Aubrey, and just don't." She scoffed lightly and shook her head in disbelief. "I have to go." She kept her eyes low as she left his room and skipped down the stairs, for some weird reason she was really struggling to hold back the tears this time. Typical, she had to be in his house when couldn't control her emotions.

"Nicki wait up!" He ran down after her but she'd already shut the front door.

"Aubrey dear? Was that Nicki?" He nodded regretfully as she continued stirring in the bowl she had with her. "Is she ok? She used to always hug me before she left." She pouted and looked at the door as if trying to work out what was wrong.

"Yeah, she's fine." He turned to go back upstairs but his conscience was telling him to go chase her and make sure she was really ok. He'd seen the tears. "Actually Mom Imma go check she's alright, be back soon." He grabbed his jacket and ran out the door.

"Kids." Sandi muttered and wandered back into the kitchen.

Out on the street he looked around for her but she was nowhere in sight so he started walking towards her house. She'd only got a few houses down and burst into tears, no longer able to hold them in. Not wanting to back looking a state she sat herself on the edge of the sidewalk just around the corner from her house and cried. To say she was slightly hysterical was kind of an understatement. It's like everything had just built up and was now being released, in a public place. How annoying. Like her feelings couldn't just wait a few more minutes until she was in her room. To top it off she soon heard footsteps coming her way, looking edgily to the side she recognised his shoes and scrambled to her feet whilst trying to get rid of the tears.

"Nicki?" His voice was quiet as he got closer.

"What?!" He flinched a little at the volume of her voice, she'd been nothing but shy all night.

"I'm so sorry, I-"

"No, it's too late for that. I'm done with you." His heart dropped what felt like ten storeys as she turned and looked at him. The months of torment and cruel doings to her flashed through his mind. This was all his fault. He'd done this to her. "What d-did I ever do t-to you?" Her breathing was hitched as she tried to control her sobs, but it was no use. She clutched at her chest as it became painful to intake air. He felt stupid and now here he was tearing up as he watched her.

"Nothing Nicki. You never did anything to me." He bowed his head in shame.

"So then w-why are you being such an ass t-to me?" She didn't hang around for an answer as she took a step back shaking her head and continued on home. He didn't want to upset her anymore, so he let her walk away. Just like that she was gone.

When she arrived home she yelled 'Hello' as cheerfully as she could and hotfooted it all the way to her room, locking the door behind her. It wasn't long before her Mom was shouting her for dinner, but she was well and truly off of her appetite now. She could have imagined her steak as being Drake's face and repeatedly stab at it but she'd only be scolded for playing with her food. Instead she yelled that she wasn't hungry and went straight to bed after showering. Another day still looming ahead of her, she honestly didn't know how much longer she could do this for.

Next day, same routine, same result. Only today she'd managed to avoid being pushed out of the bus and having to dry all of her belongings in the bathroom. Sat in her math class she watched the clock as it ticked slowly, it almost looked like it was getting slower, suddenly a loud bang in her hear made her jump sideways. Turning steadily she saw Tyrell laughing like hyena as he pulled the textbook away from her head. Why after five years of doing that is it still funny to guys? She pondered on it for a little while until Drake's voice snapped her out of it.

"I'm sorry 'bout him. I've, Y'know? Asked him to stop but he don't listen to anythin' but his own voice." She just nodded nonchalantly in his direction without saying a word.

"Drake, dude, the fuck you talkin' to her for?" He whacked him playfully around the head with the same book that had almost deafened her. "Oh wait! Y'all had your little date last night didn't you?!" Everyone started laughing as Mia spoke up.

"That bitch don't stand a chance with Aubrey! I mean.." She laughed cockily. "Just look at her!" Then right at that moment Nicki felt everyone's eyes burning through her, she looked down before anyone noticed how red she'd gotten. "I hope she comes with a bag though."

"What?" Tyrell half laughed as he asked.

"Y'know? So that whichever guy has to screw her has something to hide her face with! Either that or just tap her from behind!" The laughter in the room reached a new volume as she struggled to hold it together. Why wasn't the freaking teacher listening to a word of this?

"Stop it, y'all are takin' this way too far. Shit!" Drake slammed his books closed and attempted to go over to her but she was already up and out of her chair racing for the door. "Nicki!"

"Forget her Drizzy. She'll be right." Drake just blinked after Tyrell said that and everyone went back to work as the teacher looked at the door confusedly as it shut. She carried on running through the hallway until she slammed into somebody, without thinking she just started apologising profusely.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't watching where I was going." She bent down to pick up all of her books as the stranger followed her lead.

"Don't worry 'bout it." He smiled at her but she remained focused on her books on the ground as he saw the tears marking her face. Her skin was immaculate, flawless even. "I'm Safaree..." He trailed off and held his hand out, waiting for her to shake his hand and announce her name too, but she didn't.

"Thanks." She stood up once all of her things were back in her arms and attempted to move past him in a hurry.

"Woah, where you goin'? Are you ok?" For the first time she looked up at him and almost died. The only time she actually cared about what she looks like and her she is balling her eyes out in front of this guy.

"Yeah I'm fine, thank you." She smiled, unconvincingly and kept on moving.

"Well, don't I get a name?" His voice was calm and kind, making her stop and turn back to face him.

"It's Onika and thank you, Safaree." The way she said his name. That was it, that's all he had to think. It's like his mind had gone to mush and he didn't know what to say next. Dreading a strong bout of word vomit he quickly spoke up before his mouth distorted what he wanted to say.

"Well, see you around, Onika." He nodded his head and smiled. That one gesture almost had her panties wet. She mentally urged herself to pull it together.

"I hope so." She smiled back, still having tears on her face but not caring as she turned and walked away.

2. Brave Face

*I just wanna remind you that chapters for this fic are always gonna be quite short :)) Thanku to all who commented on the first chapter ^__^*

Nicki got ready for school the next morning as usual, said goodbye to her Mother and headed to the bus stop. As she walked slowly down the pavement she noticed the gang of school students already stood there. Great. He was there, him and his bitch Mia.

"Oh, Onika! You forgot your lunch!" Her Mom could not have possibly chosen a more embarrassing time to run out yelling like a banshee. Everybody started laughing slyly as she turned to grab her lunch from her out of breath Mother. "Hello Aubrey dear, how's your Mother doing?" She folded her arms over her chest in an attempt to keep warm as she asked.

"Hey Mrs M, yeah she's great thanks for asking." He smiled which made Nicki instantly want to vomit. He was so slimy.

"That's good to hear, and it's nice to know you and Onika will be seeing a lot more of each other too." He instantly bowed his head when everyone looked at him and started knocking into him jokingly. Nicki was getting really impatient now.

"Mom! Can you please leave? I'll see you later." She whispered angrily as her Mom just shook her head and marched back to the house. Soon enough Tyrell's voice became audible through the laughs and giggles.

"So, you gon' be gettin' tutored by four eyes?" He ruffled Drake's short curls as everyone laughed even louder.

"Shut the fuck up man, it's only 'til made grades are back up. My Mom is freaking the fuck out 'bout me failing." He jokingly pushed him away and just when she thought things couldn't get any worse Tyrell made his way over to where she was stood nervously, circling her as she remained still with her head down.

"Does she even talk?" He brushed past her roughly as he made his way back to the crowd causing her to sigh out of relief. Drake saw how afraid she looked and felt bad. When he started poking fun at her all those months ago he never really meant for it get this bad. He didn't stop doing it though, that's what kept him "Cool". Believe it or not these two used to be good friends, some would even say best friends. Not the case nowadays though.

"Like, does she even know what she looks like?" Mia's laugh went right through her, it was so annoying. Like one of those hideous bimbo giggles.

"Mia." She turned to look at Drake sourly as Nicki kept her position.

"What?" She scoffed. "Oh, no, let me guess. Now you feelin' bad? Get the fuck over it Aubrey. She prolly not even listenin'." she laughed again as the bus pulled up and they all piled on, Nicki waited until last and stayed towards the front end of the bus as they all moved up to the back. She relaxed a little as the bus journey went relatively smoothly. Until it was time to get off. She waited until they all went first but Drake and Tyrell were still at the back, waiting for her.

"After you." Tyrell said as he grinned like idiot. She hesitated before making a move. As she thanked the driver and hopped off the last step as she felt herself being shoved, falling to her knees pretty hard whilst Tyrell grabbed her bag and emptied the contents on the ground next to her. She could feel everyone staring, even the freaking bus driver.

"Tyrell, that was harsh." She heard Drake mumble as their group walked off laughing. He kept looking back at her sympathetically as she tried to grab all of her things, which were now all soggy because Tyrell thoughtfully dumped them a puddle.

"Fucking assholes." She murmured and stuffed everything back into her book bag, she felt the tears burning her eyes but managed to stope them. Something she was becoming a pro at. The best part of the morning was spent drying all of her crinkled books under the hand dryer in the bathroom, she didn't even care that she'd skipped her math lesson. She was ahead anyways. Thankfully lunchtime rolled around quicker than she had hoped, the rest of the day were just free periods so she headed home knowing that they would be catching the bus she skipped that idea and walked all the way home, even with her sore bloodied up knees. It took a hell of a long time but she finally made it.

"Onika?" Ugh, she'd only just stepped through the door and already her Mom was asking her to do something.

"Yes?" She dropped her stuff on the floor and tried to wipe some of the dried blood off of her knees before anybody noticed and started questioning her.

"Your Father's coming home tonight, so I'm about to go get some stuff to make us a nice dinner. Why don't you go 'round to Aubrey's now?" she appeared at the kitchen doorway with Cai on her hip.

"Mom, I'm tired and I have my own sh-" She stopped seeing her Mother's brow raise. "Stuff to do."

"I really can't believe you Onika! I told Sandi you'd help! So do it for me? Please!?" Without thinking Nicki rolled her eyes angrily and snatched her bag off the floor and stormed outside, making sure to slam the door for effect. It was only a short walk to his house but she wished it was longer for she was at his front step sooner than expected. Taking a few deep breaths she knocked hesitantly. She hated him with a passion. Luckily Sandi answered.

"Onika! We haven't seen you 'round here in far too long! Come in." She moved aside to let a reluctant Nicki inside. "Do you want a drink or anything to eat?" She shook her head no politely. "Ok well Aubrey is up in his room, make yourself at home." She smiled and went back to what she was doing. The door was right there, she could just leave and forget about all of this but she knew her Mother would have a go at her. Shakily stepping up the stairs she died realising his door was open and he'd already seen her. It was too late now, she had to stay. He was laying on his bed and sat up when he saw her awkwardly standing up as she got to the doorway. Shuffling nervously with her hands.

"Hey, um come in." He sighed silently when she didn't say anything and walked in slowly. "So Math homework...." He screwed his lips up and looked off to the side as she stayed silent, proceeding to get her books out as she sat on the floor.

"Look Nicki I-"

"Page 201 right?"

"What? Oh, yeah. But I was 'bouta-"

"Well don't. I just wanna get this over with." She avoided looking at him still as he sat down on his bed, she skimmed through the pages until she found the right one. He looked over her, she was still so pretty even though she never bothered with makeup like any of the other girls. He thought her glasses were cute too, as he continued to scan his eyes over her, pangs of guilt set in when he got to her knees. He knew that was what Tyrell did to her this morning. "Are you gon' get your books out or not?" Again she avoided eye contact and started scribbling notes down.

"I guess so." Even though she said it quietly and timidly he could hear the undertone of anger and hurt. He did what she asked as their little tutoring session began.

*Oh there you go kids :)) hope it was ok and sorry about any typos :// Once again thx so much for the comments left on the first chapter! ^_^ Next I'll be updating WTWC and CAHM cause FY seems to be fading a little ://*

1. The Start of A New Year

*Right, so I may have updated this one instead of HIA :/ BUT I promise I'll do HIA tomorrow. I just want to see who actually likes this one and be totally honest with me guys, I really don't mind! :)) So here you go, it's only short but please let me know what you think and then I'll decide whether or not to continue ^__^*

She walked into the classroom nervously feeling people staring at her, some were still talking amongst one another but she clocked a few of the "Popular" girls looking at her and laughing.

"Have you seen her glasses?" Mia whispered as she stifled a bitchy laugh with her group of friends whilst sixteen year old Onika made her way to an empty seat. It was the start of a new year and already it was hell, she just couldn't wait for the day to be over. Sliding her glasses back up her nose she proceeded to get her books out and place them on her desk when she was hit unexpectedly in the face by a paper ball. How mature. She didn't look up in the direction from which it came, instead she just brushed it off the edge of her desk and pretended it didn't happen. This was something she had grown accustomed too unfortunately. She was by absolutely no means ugly, in fact she was naturally stunning. People just had the idea that she was the typical 'nerd' with the glasses, no makeup and forever having her face stuck in a book. Blanking out the whispers, stares and other various objects thrown at her she managed to make it through the lesson and the rest of the day. The bus ride home was a nightmare but she was finally back in the comfort of her own room.

"Onika?! Dinner's ready!" She sighed as she closed her text book before making her way downstairs. He father worked away and her oldest brother had moved out which just left herself, her Mom and her younger brother Cai living together. "Could you please go set the table whilst I finish everything up in here?"

"Sure." She replied expressionlessly as she walked back to the dining room. She was praying that her Mother didn't ask any questions about how her first day back was, or if she'd made any new friends. She used to love school, until her best friend moved states halfway through last year. Now it was just her.

"Thank you Nika." Her Mom smiled warmly as she carried the food through and set a plate down at each chair. As they sat and ate the silence grew louder until Mama Carol opened her mouth. Much to Onika's dismay. "So how was school? Everything go ok?" She kept her eyes fixed on her plate as she played with a piece of broccoli.

"Yeah, it was ok. Y'know? The usual." She managed a weak dimpled smile to put her Mother's mind at ease.

"Are you sure baby? You seem pretty quiet." Mama Carol stopped eating and looked at her daughter.

"Positive." She smiled once again before setting her fork down. "May I be excused? I'm done eating and I have homework to do."

"Mmkay, don't stay up too late." She knew that once she was in her room that would be it, she wouldn't be seen again until the morning. "Oh Onika?"

"Yeah?" She stopped at the bottom step not turning to look at her as the tears were threatening to fall.

"Sandi Graham called today, she wanted some help for Aubrey. He needs tutoring in Math, I said you would help him out." Nicki's heart dropped.

"Mom! No! Ion wanna help him!" Mama Carol's eyes widened.

"Excuse me?"

"Sorry, it's just, I don't really like him, he's so full of himself." Truthfully he was the one causing all the torment for her at school and it was getting to the point where it was unbearable.

"Well I told Sandi as a friend, that my daughter would be happy to help. I don't want your stubbornness being a reflection of me. It'll only be a few days a week for one semester. I'm sure you'll manage." She carried on eating angrily as Nicki marched up the stairs to her room, slamming the door behind her. It was only 8pm but she didn't care, showering and throwing on her pyjamas she peeled her comforter back and slid into bed. No longer in the eyes of anyone she let the tears fall, staining her pillow temporarily until she drifted off to sleep. Dreading what tomorrow would bring.

Introduction

Kay, so this is my newest blog ^_^ I will be posting as much on this one as the other four (hopefully!) Only the chapters will be a bit shorter so that whenever I have spare time at uni I can just post a little chapter here and there :)) Literally, one day I'm there from 9 'til 7 :| Not fun, so blogging should relieve my boredom between lectures and tutorials! :D Right, well I will be posting later on tonight. ♥
